On March 7th & 8th 4 aircraft from Temora Aero Club flew away to Shepparton as part of the Great Air Rally. Rob and Gloria Maslin in the RV6, Sam Richards and Simon Pike in Sam’s RV6, Cat Harmon and Col Richards in the Grumman, and Jill & Norm Bailey in the Tecnam departed Saturday morning for the first stop at Deneliquin. Apart from a small diversion in the Grumman, all aircraft arrived to register and enjoy breakfast before heading off to Echuca, then Bendigo for lunch. The final leg was then to Shepparton for a dinner, with guest speakers regaling the crowd with stories of flying in the South African Air Force and experiences with operations at Rex.
Sunday morning saw a departure to Yarrawonga, which was quieter than expected because of the long weekend in Victoria and a successful return to Temora in the afternoon. A very enjoyable weekend and hopefully the start of more fly away activities for the club.
Sal and Justin Anderson continue to progress well, and are planning a trip for nav-ex’s to Porepunkah in May with both Tecnams.
Congratulations to Mitchell Liebich, who achieved his passenger endorsement on 19th March and took his sister flying on the 20th!
Good to see David Yee back steadily working towards his licence, along with locals Stan Tiedemann and Lloyd Maxwell.
Recent new pilots in training include Brady and Morgan Kenny from Young and a recent POPE (partners of pilots emergency course) graduate Anne-Marie Seve from Sydney. I will be including some great photos Anne-Marie took on future updates.
Another new face recently has been Paul Sheather from Melbourne, who has been doing nav-ex’s in the Tecnam and will return soon.
Congratulations also to Terry and Peter Franke who completed a successful test flight in their Zenith Zodiac 601 recently. Also seen flying recently is Elvin King’s Lambada, a self launch motor glider and very nice looking aircraft.
