As many of you know, we have been holding very successful Human Factors courses on a monthly basis for any RA-Aus pilots or students, along with interested PPL holders. Our next course will be held on Saturday 20th March.
Any pilot is welcome to attend, learn more about how our decision making and judgement is affected by external factors ranging from environmental to work and family pressures and our state of health at the time.
The course starts at 9.00am, with coffee and lunch breaks provided, finishing at 3.00pm, all for the princely sum of $25.
Please advise Jill on 0412 409171 or training@temoraaeroclub.com if you would like to attend. Bring along your logbook and a notebook.
See you there,
Jill

We have certainly picked up the pace in February, with our Human Factors course held on 13th February attracting 19 pilots and students. People attended from Nowra, Canberra, Sydney the local area, and even one keen pilot from Werribee in Victoria! Jim Haines of Werribee has been doing some Tecnam conversion training and decided the Human Factors course was too good to miss.
Congratulations also to Geoff Gasior for his passenger endorsement, a Pilot Certificate for Scott Taubman of Young, and a first solo for Gabriele Shardlow of Young. New students include Vet Science student Ayla Hunt from Wagga, Glen and his son Matt Davidson from Canberra, Jason Cockayne of Temora Aviation Museum, Ross Howard from Cootamundra and Rowan Fleming from West Wyalong, while Shane Barker of Gerringong is enjoying some conversion flying in the Tecnam between construction of the new TAFE buildings. Recently enjoying flying the Tecnam as part of a glider conversion was Peter Plunkett of Brisbane, who also did some training with Lindsay Wallace, back for a long overdue visit to Temora recently. Margaret Struthers of Bathurst also recently flew the Tecnam as part of her conversion from a gliding licence.
We also enjoyed hosting the recent TAFE course in aerodynamics at the Aero Club with 6 students taking the opportunity to do some Tecnam flying with Quincy and Jill.
Phew, I’m exhausted just typing all this activity! Safe flying til next time,
Jill

Well, Christmas and New Years Eve are well and truly over and we are starting to settle back into our routines.
We are planning another human factors course on Saturday 13th February, with the course running along the same lines as last time. Beginning at 9.00am with a break for lunch and continuing until 3.00pm, the course costs $25 including lunch and will give attendees the required pass in Human Factors for their RA-Aus licences.
New students include Emma Turner, daughter of Junee local and club member Roger Turner, along with Peter Halls of Sydney. Other activities include Paul Westman dusting off his gliding instructor rating to begin the process of converting to an RA-Aus instructor rating, along with Paul spending a weekend up at Bathurst recently to complete his Glider Towing endorsement.
Congratulations also go to Cootamundra local Scott Sharman who recently completed his PPL under Graham White.
We also recently enjoyed hosting two visitors passing through picking cherries at Young. Shane Kerrigan enjoyed flying the Sierra having received his RA-Aus Certificate at Shepparton Vic in Tecnam Echo’s (We know which aircraft he likes better!). His partner Danielle Labinsky began her flying training here at Temora and enjoyed the experience immensely. Shane and Danielle attended Greg and Ingrid Wootton’s New Years Eve party along with airport residents, locals and family and all enjoyed another of Captain Kaos’s amazing spit roasts.
A number of glider pilots also recently enjoyed flights in the Sierra’s, including Peter Fox, Margaret Struthers and Mal Williams, while local resident Leonie Weir recently enjoyed a half hour trial flight . Leonie’s sister won the trial flight in a local raffle supporting TEM-FM and kindly donated the flight to her sister. Leonie was heard to comment after the flight that she wished it had been a longer flight she enjoyed it so much!
Safe flying until next time, Jill

On Saturday 21st November 14 brave souls assembled at the Temora Aero Club to undertake human factors training as part of their RA-Aus Pilot Certificate requirements. For $25 they enjoyed a well presented course relating to Human Factors, along with a delicious sausage sandwich.
Boorowa based ambulance man and pilot Brad Lochrin presented the course, which had been approved by Mick Poole for use by Temora Flight Training. The course was well received by the pilots and students attending, with Brad managing to make a complex subject enjoyable, relevant and meaningful to all who attended.
Human Factors is all about how pilots and passengers react, respond and cope with the often difficult environment we as pilots operate in, along with developing personal minimums and strategies for anticipating and dealing with situations both usual and unusual.
Temora Flight Training will be holding these courses on a regular basis in 2010, as all RA-Aus pilots need to complete the course by September 2010 to continue exercising the privileges of the Pilot Certificate. Contact Jill Bailey on 0412 409171 for more information and to book a place.

All students training and current RA-Aus pilots need to have completed the human factors training by September 2010 as part of their requirements for a licence.
To make life easier for everyone, I have organised a course for pilots and students to attend, and intend to offer the course throughout 2010 on a monthly basis.
Operating on Saturday 21st November from 9.00am for $25 with a BBQ lunch included, the course will give pilots the endorsement required, and also offer a chance to talk about experiences and scenarios, to make the course as interesting as possible.
Please advise Jill on 0412 409171 if you can attend as we need confirmed numbers, and if you can’t attend, please advise of your interest for a course on a different date.
